When I think of Fried Chicken I immediately think of the crispiness that fried chicken should have. It’s all about the right amount of crispiness and the crunch sound when biting into the piece of chicken right? In my opinion, If your fried chicken doesn’t have a nice crispy crunch with every bite then what’s the point.
I love Fried Chicken so much, that it only was right for me to experiment with different ingredients just to finally have that “This is it” moment. I’m talking about Nice and Crispy on the outside but moist and flavorful on the inside.
WHAT SIDE ITEMS GOES WITH FRIED CHICKEN?
The sides are endless. It really all depends on what you are in the mood for. Here’s how my menu would look if I were to have this Crispy Fried Chicken any day of the week.
Weeknight Dinner Sides: Mashed Potatoes, Gravy and Green Beans
Friday or Saturday Sides: French Fries, Cole Slaw
Sunday Dinner Sides: Macaroni & Cheese, Fried Cabbage, Potato Salad, Cornbread

Best Crispy & Crunchy Fried Chicken
Ingredients
- 1½ lbs. Whole Chicken Wings or Boneless Breast (or any section of the chicken of your choice)
- 1½ cups Buttermilk
- 2 Eggs
- 2 cups Flour (for breading)
- 1 cup Italian Bread crumbs (for breading)
- 1 tbsp. Creole Seasoning or Seasoned Salt (½ for brining ½for breading)
- 1 tbsp. Chicken Seasoning (½ for brining ½for breading)
- 1 tbsp. Garlic Powder
- ½ tsp Cayenne (optional)
- Vegetable Oil (you can use peanut or canola oil of your choice)
Instructions
- Rinse your chicken then pat dry and set aside. Mix all seasonings in a small bowl.
- In a medium or large bowl pour in the buttermilk the add the chicken and brine for 6 to 12 hours. This can be placed in your fridge overnight if need be.
- In another bowl beat 2 eggs and then add in some of the buttermilk brine. Add chicken and half the seasonings mixture. Give everything a good mix with your hands. (Wear gloves because it gets pretty messy)
- Take a large zip lock bag or a container with a tight fitted lid (your choice) and add your flour, the Italian bread crumbs and the rest of the seasonings. Place the floured chicken on a pan to allow the flour to adhere to the chicken.
- Heat the cooking oil in your deep fryer. Making sure the oil reaches 350 F. Add in a few pieces of chicken. be sure to not fry too many pieces at one time. cooking time varies depending of the size of the chicken. When your chicken is golden brown and begins to float to the top, your chicken is done.
