A Sweet & Salty Snack for Fall.
I don’t know about you but Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year! The weather is cooler and perfect for a cozy night in on the sofa watching movies with some great snacks.
From candy corns, cinnamon spice and caramel flavored treats all screams fall time. But with this DIY treat, we’re talking fun, tasty but yet oh so easy to make.
One of my favorite things to get when I would go to the movies is a bucket of popcorn and then get some sort of chocolate candy to dump over into my popcorn. Now when I have the opportunity to make my own movie night snacks, I tend to go all out and jazz it up a little. Well….. ok a lot!
Not only do I like to mix some of our favorite snacks in a bowl. But the newest addition to this snack mix is drizzling some caramel sauce over the top of the popcorn mix. Yum on top of more yum!
My family loves it and honestly I don’t remember the last time I had popcorn by itself! LOL
If you love sweet and salty mixed together then this is the perfect snack. The saltiness of the popcorn mixed with the Reese’s minis and Chex mix brings a satisfying balance of both the sweet and salty flavors.
What you’ll Need
- Popcorn – When it comes to Popcorn the choice is totally yours. Whether you prefer microwave popcorn, stove top or already popped store bought. Whichever way you like it, it will still work and will taste very good. I popped the kernels in the microwave with our neat little popcorn microwave glass kettle pot.
- Chex Mix – Now of course you can add your favorite Chex mix but in this recipe I used the Turtle Indulgent Chex Mix my absolute favorite! The snack bag comes with its very own sweet and salty flavors but you know that I couldn’t stop there.
- Reese’s Minis – Another favorite of ours, especially my husband! These Reese’s Minis add that extra layer of chocolatey and sweetness to this snack.
- Cocoa Puffs Popcorn – Omg! These Cocoa Puffs Popcorn is the snack that brings it all together. If you haven’t tried these snacks look for it in your local store on the snack aisle.
- Caramel Sauce – This is totally optional but if you’re not afraid of getting your fingers a little sticky then you might as well drizzle it up my friend! It’s the grand finale to this recipe. Now you just don’t want to just drizzle the caramel sauce as is. Try warming the caramel sauce up then drizzle. You will not be disappointed.
