Tips to Making the Perfect Buttermilk Pumpkin Waffles
Preheating the Waffle Iron – Make sure your waffle iron is preheated before adding the batter. This helps in achieving that crispiness on the outside while keeping the inside nice and soft.
Allow the Batter to Rest – Allowing the batter to rest for a few minutes after mixing will allow all the ingredients to come together and thicken. Especially if oats is added, to absorb some of the moisture, resulting in a better texture for the waffles.
Using Butter or Non-sticking Spray – It is recommended to lightly spray your waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray or brush it with melted butter before pouring the batter, even if the surface of your waffle iron is non-stick. This will help in the easy release of the waffle and will also enhance its crispiness.
Serving – It’s best to enjoy waffles immediately after removing them from the iron. If you’re making a batch, keep them warm in a low temperature oven (around 200°F or 93°C) until you’re ready to serve.
