I have to start by saying Wow! When you take your first bite, you are greeted with a toasty crumble topping that’s warm and super duper moist. The Fig Walnut Jam and ripe bananas in this bread serve sweet deliciousness throughout the entire bread!
Can I just say that I truly adore making banana bread? From classic banana bread to banana oatmeal muffins. They all bring a sense of sweet warm comfort into my world. Starting with the heavenly aroma that flows throughout the home when baking banana bread. And that my friend just screams comfort.
Now you are probably wondering about Bananas and figs? Well, I used Fig Walnut Jam. Yep! That’s right. So easy to make and adds another layer of flavors that taste so heavenly.
So I have to admit that whenever I visit stores like Homegoods or World Markets, I head right on over to the food aisle first! LOL, One day I was in Homegoods and saw this beautiful jar of jam. I have a weakness in the packaging and presentation of a product. Nevertheless, it was enough to get me to purchase and you already know that I could not wait to try it out. My first thought was I will try this jam on some good ole homemade buttermilk biscuits. I did and I loved it!
But guys as you know that it didn’t stop there. I have been wanting to try this out in one of my banana bread recipes but wasn’t sure if the banana and fig could coexist together in the same bread space. I was worried that both the banana and the Fig in the jam would be competing for attention. But to my surprise, it was a hidden match made in heaven!

Baking with Fig Jam
The absolute best thing about baking banana bread is taking a classic recipe and making it versatile. The options are endless. When adding Jam to any bread, I like to use ingredients that are natural or organic for the best taste possible.
In this recipe, I used 2 tbsp. of the Fig Walnut Jam mixed into the batter and added 2 tbsp. on top as an added topping right before baking in the oven.
Recipe Ingredients
- 3-4 Ripe Bananas Mashed
- 1 Egg at Room Temperature
- 1 Stick of Unsalted Butter (Soften)
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp. All Spice
- 1 1/2 Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 cup Half n Half
- 2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 4 tbsp. Fig Walnut Jam
- 1/2 cup Walnuts
Ingredient Swap
- Milk – In this recipe, I used Half n Half, but feel free to use Whole Milk or Almond Milk I honestly can say that I have tried all three, and guys they all taste very good with this recipe.
- All Spice – The absolute best part about making this recipe is that you can easily make little swap such as swapping out the All Spice with just Cinnamon.
- Walnuts – Don’t like walnuts? that is perfectly ok. you can leave the walnuts out or swap them with pecans or almonds.
